Food24’s September love list

The Food Lover’s Market
This is Fruit and Veg’s City new ‘zoosh’ food market with everything from fresh juices, salads, sushi to delicious breads, you’ll find everything here to make you beam with foodie joy!

The Wellness Warehouse
The Wellness Warehouse in Kloof Street Cape Town, is like a department store in Japan. You can find everything in this shop from body products, clothes, organic smoothies to ‘green’ books all beautifully presented with soothing music and lovely spa-e smells in the air. A new Wellness Warehouse will be opening in Heathway, Jo’burg in October, so prepare to drop some serious cash!

The Organic Market
The organic market in Woodstock at the Old Biscuit Mill is a Saturday institution for most Capetonians. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better place selling such a wide variety of delicious organic products. And the ‘organic’ Mojito’s is not bad either.

Paranga
Speaking of cocktails, Paranga’s Berry Collins is one of my favourite cocktails. It has just the right mix of gin and lime with frozen berries melting into the cocktail as the sun sets.

Mariams Kitchen
Mariams Kitchen takeaway has withstood the test of time and still sells the best salomi’s and masala steak sandwiches in Cape Town.

Taftoonz
They get my vote for the best meal I’ve ever had for R22. Flame grilled vegetables, marinated in a spicy saffron and lime juice sauce; flame grilled to buttery perfection then served with a hot fluffy Persian flatbread with red pepper relish…yum yum yum!

Miller’s Thumb
You’ll have to look far and wide to find another restaurant that prepares fish with such unpretentious delicious care.

Saigon
For pure Oriental bliss go to Saigon. I highly recommend their delicious Vietnamese curries, sushi, steamed dumplings and grilled calamari in the bento box.

The Braun Multiquick
It blends, it chops and whisks… it’s the ultimate kitchen power tool! Woohah.
