Food24 eats at Toni’s Fully Furnished Pizza Co.

Toni’s is a pizza restaurant.

This statement may sound odd, but the reason that I am making it is that in today’s restaurant world, most pizza restaurants also do steaks, burgers, fish, sushi…you name it, Toni’s does pizza.

Toni’s philosophy for her restaurants is to choose one cuisine and to produce that cuisine really well rather than trying to do everything, and these pizzas are pretty perfect in my books: ultra thin crust, interesting and punchy combinations of toppings, cooked to perfection and packed with flavour.

The space is roomy, with quirky wooden, mosaic and painted features. It also has an outside deck, a large bar and not one, but two beautiful mosaic pizza ovens. In a nutshell: it’s relaxed, unpretentious, simple but stylish with a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a family business where Toni’s goal is to make you feel at home by offering you: good food, good service, a good wine and cocktail list and an invitation to share your thoughts and come back again.

What you need to try: the ‘Pizza Pesto’ topped with peppadew pesto, basil pesto, goat’s cheese, walnuts, prosciutto, and avo, also the ‘Pizza al Toni’ topped with artichokes, gorgonzola, basil pesto, butternut, pine nuts and prosciutto and you can order all the pizzas as full sized 30cm or as ‘pizzettes’ which are half the size (useful if you’re in the mood to try a few).

The House salad is also a must with roasted peppers, baby marrow, aubergine, caramelised onions, marinated tomatoes, almonds, pine nuts, feta…I’d opt for this with a focaccia if you’re watching your waste-line and if you’re not then definitely try the dessert pizzas (nutella and marshmallow, banana, baklava and apple strudel). They also have some lovely pastas on the menu, and true to Toni’s nature everything is made from scratch with perfection in mind.

Gluten free pizza and wholewheat pasta available.
