Food24 eats at… Terroir

Terroir has thrilled my taste buds once again and remains as delicious as ever.

The setting
Set on Kleine Zalze wine estate in Stellenbosch, Terroir is an unpretentious restaurant with a dappled shade outside area for relaxed yet chic country dining.

The food
It is one of my favourite restaurants in the Cape and I was there to try a few dishes off the Winter menu.

It’s a pared-down menu that is extremely affordable. I mean, 2
courses costs R175, 3 courses R198 and both deals include a glass of Kleine Zalze wine? That’s a real deal at one of the top restaurants in SA.

Take a gawk at what I ate (every delicious bite!) in this lush gallery.

Michael Broughton is the sauce King in my mind and I love that his food is so interesting, beautiful and not too overly-fussed with.

The wine
Award-winning wines at reasonable prices. In the words of our wine guru, Cathy Marston, ‘Delicious! Excellent value at a lot of different price levels from
entry to really very good indeed. Particularly love the Chenin Blancs although
in recent months, it is their Cabernet Sauvignon which has been winning all the
plaudits and gathering all the fans.’

Perfect for
Get some friends together for a lovely long lunch or a special meal with your partner, you can’t go wrong.

*The Winter Special may
be ordered by tables of eight or less guests, and is available from now until
30 September 2012 from Monday to Saturday at lunch and dinner (excludes Sunday
lunch).
