Flora and Zintle Ntshikila showcase how to enjoy a healthy holiday – naturally

Many of us tend to overindulge during the festive period. Even more so for those on a wellness journey or trying to improve their heart health, when the festive feasting inevitably destroys the best intentions and meal plans.

All greens and no treats would make for a fairly dull holiday season, but what if you could find the balance? Flora believes the key lies in balancing your plant-based foods with your other meals and finding small ways to make them a little more healthy without losing the great taste.

Last week Flora hosted a Festive Masterclass where consumers got the chance to test out a range of delicious festive recipes and learn more about making simple choices to enjoy a healthier festive season.

Guests learned about the importance of using natural, plant-based and heart-healthy ingredients wherever possible.

Made from 100 percent plant-based oils, including Sunflower, Canola and Linseed oil, that support a heart-healthy lifestyle, Flora can add flavour, not just as a tasty spread, but as a cooking aid and ingredient too. The essential fats, vitamins and minerals found in Flora are absorbed into the body and assist in maintaining heart health.

Special guest chef and event host Zintle Ntshikila prepared and shared her favourite Flora plant-based recipes for the festive season and explained how Flora has become her go-to cooking spread as a way to add more flavour to her meals.

“As someone who has been on an extensive wellness journey, having lost a lot of weight and made big changes to my eating habits, I find Flora to be a great addition to my cooking. I’m always looking for ingredients that give great flavour but don’t add more health risks,” she said, “It can be really tough to hang on to your good habits in the festive season. No one wants to feel like they are missing out on the festive treats. But, by finding a balance between your plant-based and meat foods and using Flora in your cooking, you can still enjoy the great flavours and not put your heart at risk”, revealed Zintle Ntshikila. Dietician, Roseanne Lombard reinforced the importance of plant-based eating for health and discussed the merits of margarine as a plant-based spread with heart health benefits.

Guests were divided into groups and enjoyed cooking two meals each before they had the chance to tuck in at the festive harvest table and savour the results for themselves. Guests indulged in the tasty recipes and said they couldn’t wait to go home and enjoy a healthy holiday, naturally.

Guest, Nthwana Ngoma said she couldn’t believe how delicious the meals had turned out, “Yummy! The #livemorelife Flora Masterclass went well. You can do more with Flora, it’s not just a spread!”

Throughout the day, Flora encouraged followers to join in online by sharing their favourite plant-based festive recipes made with Flora and Flora Vegan with the chance to win a personal Flora Masterclass with Zintle!
