Finest SA wines from the Nederburg Auction – at cost

A choice of the rarest, most exclusive wines from the Nederburg Auction will once again be available to Checkers customers at cost price.

Every year South Africa’s most talented winemakers come together to showcase their exceptional, award-winning wines in one of the industry’s most anticipated events. The annual Nederburg Auction, now in its 41st year, took place this past weekend at the famous Nederburg Estate in Paarl, Western Cape, where hand-picked exclusive wines from South Africa’s top estates were auctioned.

Checkers bid on some of the country’s finest wines in order to bring its customers a collection of rare and limited edition premium wines at the same price as was paid for them. Checkers’ top picks from this year’s auction will be available to customers to order online from Monday 14 September. These include wines such as Graham Beck Pheasants’ Run Sauvignon Blanc 2013 (Double Gold Veritas 2013); Jordan Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2010 (Veritas 2012 Double Gold); Durbanville Hills Caapmans Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2008 (Michelangelo Awards 2011 Gold) and Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve Vintners Selection Port 2003 (Veritas Double Gold 2005).

Customers will be able to start placing orders from Monday, 14 September 2015. Order online at www.checkers.co.za/auction or call the customer service centre on 0800 01 07 09. Orders will be delivered to the nearest Checkers store for collection within 6 weeks – the store will notify the customer directly once the wine is ready for collection. Orders close 9 October 2015, but customers are urged to hurry as stock quantities are limited.

The Nederburg Auction is one of the world’s five major wine auctions, alongside the auctions of Hospice de Beaune in France and Kloster Eberbach in Germany.  Each of the 129 wines that were sold at the 2015 Nederburg Auction has earned the Auction’s Seal of Approval, which is affixed to each bottle as a mark of quality and authenticity. This golden seal is an endorsement and a reassurance that these wines represent the pinnacle of rare, properly matured, fine South African wines.
