Festive budget wine bargains under R40

I don’t think I have ever seen such good value wines as this year. All the following are from Pick n Pay and if the good prices themselves weren’t enough, for the whole of December, you get a ‘Buy 5, get the 6th free’ deal. There are some T&C’s and I’m not sure the deal is at every store but it’s well worth exploring in my opinion. Happy drinking!!

Orange River Cellars Colombard 2013     R22
Zippy, fresh, fruity, clean, simple.

Boland Cellar Five Climates Chenin Blanc 2013     R26
This is my Christmas stand-by wine and Platters Superquaffer of the Year. Awesome value.

Zonnebloem Blanc de Blanc 2013     R28
Excellent value for toothsome, everyday-drinking blend.

Flat Roof Manor Pinot Grigio 2013     R30
Something a bit different, fresh, clean, food-friendly.

Kleine Zalze Chenin Blanc 2013     R32
Over-deliverer of note, can’t be faulted at this ridiculous price.

KWV Classic Collection Chardonnay 2013     R38
Elegantly wooded wine at a bargain price. Gotta love big businesses sometimes!

Sauvignon.com Sauvignon Blanc 2013     R39.99
Made by Sauvvie-meister Thys Louw of Diemersdal. Total bargain for delicious wine.

Buitenverwachting Buiten Blanc 2013     R40
Everyone’s favourite blend now at a very wallet-friendly price.

Fish Hoek Pinotage Rosé 2013     R30
Cheery little pink quaffer, perfect for adding to a block of ice on a summers day.

Obikwa Shiraz 2013     R23
Also at this price – the Merlot and some of the whites. Shiraz is the best though – nice fruity drink.

Welmoed Cabernet Sauvignon 2012     R30
New packaging but same old good value and correct, tasty wines.

Leeuwenkuil Shiraz 2012     R30
Another over-deliverer with excellent spicy fruit and soft juicy tannins.

Leopards Leap Merlot 2012     R39
Soft, juicy, berries, cherries, hint of chocolate.
