This is a great energy source. It’s Glycaemic index is lower than that of white bread, which means that it can sustain your energy levels for longer. Whole wheat also contains fibre, antioxidants, minerals and important B vitamins.

Grapes
Grapes are jam-packed with antioxidants. The seeds contain the powerful antioxidants polyphenols and biofl avonoids, while the skin contains resveratrols. However don’t forget that grapes contain a lot of sugar so you should eat them in moderation.

Fibre-fuelled breakfast

Any type of breakfast is a good idea when it comes to maintaining your energy levels. People who eat breakfast not only work faster, they make fewer mistakes and have a better memory. Researchers believe that fibre-rich breakfast may encourage the body to release the fatty acids that create energy.

Salmon and tuna

Fatty fish such as salmon and tuna are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids, that reduces the risk of heart disease.Being a versatile food it can stand on it’s own or compliment other dishes. It contains selenium, an antioxidant which isn’t that easy to find in other foods and according to experts it can be a potent ally against cancer.

Baked beans
Beans are a great source of protein, fibre and B vitamins. Beans are virtually fat-free and can count as one of the daily vegetable portions.

Bananas
Bananas are rich in potassium and vitamin B6, and provides instant energy, without an ensuing energy low. It also promote muscle growth and brain function.

Tiramisù
Which literally means “pick-me-up” in Italian is not the most healthy energy food but a great pick me up nonetheless, due to the high energy content of eggs, sugar and caffeine.

Chocolate:
Dark chocolate, according to researchers, help ward off heart disease. Ingredients such as amine in chocolate, contains antioxidants, and is also believed to be a mood enhancer.
