Eleven serving up food fantasies

The school offers intensive short cooking courses that will enable you to become a wizard in the kitchen overnight. Ranging from Mediterranean to traditional food, the courses promise to teach you the basic techniques for dishes from around the globe.

Courses include: Flavours of the Mediterranean, Domestic Goddess, The Art of Food Seduction, Children’s Tactile Cooking, Spanish Tapas, Taste of Thai, African Food Safari and much more.

About the school

The cookery school was established in November 2007. It’s called Eleven because it was Rayne Stroebel’s dream for 11 years and took 11 years to become a reality.

The school has three qualified chefs, Glynnis Roberts as principal, Natale Schotti who trained in Italy at the Academia Apicius, Dominique Ripoll Dausa who trained at the Lycee Technique d’hotelliere de Bourdeaux in France and guest gourmet Yvonne Romano. Romano has in-depth knowledge of Mediterranean food and has travelled through Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Thailand to name a few.

Chef Karin Koch also acts a guest chef and presents Food and Wine Pairing with wine expert Katinka van Niekerk.

The modern training kitchen offers individual gas and electric work stations as well as all necessary state-of-the-art equipment. Participants can also see every detail of the trainers at work on a large plasma screen. Each course takes approximately two to three hours to complete, after which you can enjoy your creation with your fellow students.

“Eleven is the perfect training venue and our courses are affordable, offering excellent value for money. Only fresh and natural ingredients are used. Our themed cooking classes are also an excellent opportunity for team building for corporate, as well as small to medium businesses,” said Roberts.
