Eating the World

‘What’s your favourite food?’

This is a question I get asked a lot. It’s really hard to say
as I adore it all… except lamb’s balls, those were not on adore level, more like ohmygarlic what-did-I-just-eat level.

I’ve been lucky to travel a bit and I’ve tried all sorts of
things, from snake in Rio to guinea pig in Peru – don’t lynch me, it’s one of
their national dishes – flying fish in Greece, bright pink tomatoes in France
and gigantic scallops in Italy.

It’s a thing I have, I feel like I need to eat the world and I have so much more of
it to cover. I mean what about Asia, now that is an untapped foodie garden of
Eden for me that I can’t wait to get to… one day hopefully.

So with all this wondrous diversity in the world, what is it
that you really adore eating?

I find some most people just want comfort food, the food
that they grew up with that made them happy. Those old recipes are so treasured,
recipes from ouma. They have soul and
smell old and precious. Keep them safe.

Other adore mountain cheese from France, the stinkier the
better with crusty bread and a simple glass of wine *drool*.

And some prefer the fragrance and mystique of spice and all
things curry from the East.

It’s so very personal isn’t it?

I’m off to the Taste of London next week to get us some
inspiration and the newest foodie trends and goodies from that side of the pond.

 If there is anything
you‘d like me to take a special look at whilst I’m there, just let me know, I’d
be thrilled to hear from you.

Yours in taste bud anticipation,
