Digital dining: Is this the way forward for the restaurant industry?

From drive-thru’s to food delivery apps, the way we receive our food has truly evolved through the years, including the way food is delivered to our tables in restaurants.

There’s robotic bartenders and the latest invention is a bidding system in a restaurant that allows you to bid for your food and drinks all through an app.

The Bid Capital, located in India, is the country’s first establishment where you can bid the price to pay for your food and drinks through an app.

Upon dining at the rustic restaurant, you will need to download the app, which aims to eliminate paper waste and enhance customer experience through the digital platform. The app has many features from paying your bill, controlling the jukebox, and even going as far as allowing you to directly order an uber for responsible drinking.

The restaurant also has a hyperbid system on all cocktails and alcohol which means, every hour for 5 minutes, the prices of the alcoholic beverages are lowered significantly and allows you bid on these items.

The app will assign your server to you, however you place your orders via the app and your waiter will then deliver your food. The restaurant opened on 02 July 2018 and has had a really positive response since it’s debut.

They offer an array of modern cuisine such as their chilli honey lotus stem and a beautiful white chocolate sphere.

Whilst the app is positively contributing to the environment, is the concept removing the social aspect of dining out at a restaurant?

Would you be interested in bidding for your drinks and food? Or do you prefer the traditional way of social interaction of being served by a waiter, when you go out to eat?
