Cookies makes the world a better place

If you think cookies can’t make the world a better place, just ask the previously unemployed women of the Khayelitsha Cookie Company.

For the past 8 years they have spent their days baking all manner of delicious cookies in the hopes of doing exactly that, making the world a better place, and in the process providing a better life for their children.

Exciting news:

Now in partnership with Pick n Pay and the Expresso Breakfast show on SABC3, the Khayelitsha Cookie Company is giving baking enthusiasts around the country the chance to produce their very own Khayelitsha creation with a new competition that aims to find SA’s best Rusk/Biscotti and Traditional Cookie recipes.

The competition is a fun way of finding new recipes for the Khayelitsha Cookie Company and to give South Africans an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of previously unemployed women in Khayelitsha.

Bake-off!

Three finalists from each of the two categories, will join Expresso Show presenters live in studio for a bake-off mid-September.

In addition to some fun prizes, the winner will also be offered the chance of a lifetime – to have her (or his!) winning recipe sold in Pick n Pay stores around the country with their name proudly displayed on the label!

The mission of the Khayelitsha Cookie Company:

‘We created a company that could not only produce the best cookies in South Africa, but that would also radically change the lives of everyone involved.

For our customers, we produce the biggest, best range of baked goods, including chocolate chunk cookies, ginger snaps, nutty fudge brownies and shortbread cookies.’

How the cookie crumbles:

Choose your secret family recipe that’s been passed down through the ages or any yummy cookie recipe will do the trick!

E-mail your recipe to recipes@kcco.co.za or contact 021 510 2300.

Please also include a brief motivation why you think your cookie recipe is a winner.

The competition closes Friday, 30 August 2013

Please note that the winning two recipes will be the property of Khayalitsha Cookie Company and the winner will forgo any claims of royalties or payments from the Khayalitsha Cookie Company, Pick ‘n Pay or Expresso.
