Chef Zola Nene reveals her 5 genius kitchen tips

Celebrity TV chef and cookbook author Zola Nene is no stranger to Food24 readers. We’ve featured a ton of her recipes on the site, including a few from her most recent cookbook. If you love her cooking as much as we do, you’ll be pleased to know that she’ll be appearing at this year’s DSTV Delicious Festival, taking place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 21 and 22 September.

We nabbed Zola and asked her to share a few of her kitchen hacks that will make your life a breeze.

Take a look.

You won’t believe it, but the easiest way to peel a kiwi fruit is by using a spoon!

In order to stop soft brown sugar from going hard, simply pop a marshmallow into the container.

Struggling to peel garlic? Shake the cloves up in a jar.

For those moments when you need to de-kernel corn with minimal mess, I always use a bundt tin.

Removing the leafy tops off strawberries can often lead to some wastage of the flesh, so I’ve found that using a straw (a biodegradable one, of course!) works wonders.
