Chef Pic opens cookery school

Groups of 10 students will have the choice of attending a 90 minute course in which they cook and then consume their own lunch. Longer courses with prices ranging from 45 to 280 euros will also be offered.

The school will be run by 30-year-old chef Aude Rambour, with Pic in attendance once a month.

Pic, 38, who was awarded the stars by Michelin last year, was the first woman in France in 50 years to get three stars.

A self-taught cook and late-comer to France’s haute cuisine scene, she has headed up the Maison Pic in Valence for about a decade, revamping the menu and reorganising the staff.

With her award last year, the Maison Pic won the three-star distinction for the third generation in a row. It went to Pic’s grandfather in 1934 and to her father in 1973.

The acclaimed restaurant had lost its third star rating after Pic’s father Jacques died in 1992.
