Chef dies of “stress” at 32

It came as a shock to the Danish culinary community when news broke that one of its most talented young chefs was found dead at his home.

According to the Copenhagen Post, Martin Bentzen suffered a heart attack that was triggered by stress. Martin Bentzen, who was working as Head Chef at the Napa Wine Bar in Shanghai, China – was former sous chef to René Redzepi of World Number 1 restaurant, Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Redzepi expressed his sympathy on Facebook:

You will be missed tremendously! Thank you for everything that you’ve done for us. Thank you for being such a friend and leader. May your last journey be a good one.”

Our thoughts go out to Bentzen’s colleagues, family and friends.
