Check out what these 5 millennials choose to eat for lunch

Have you ever wondered what impacts a millennial’s food decision-making? Considering the fact that they live in a modern era with a wide range of food options at their disposal?

Millennials are used to a fast paced environment and this gives them a great love for fast-food – that’s quick and accessible, cheap and affordable, yet filling. It’s more convenient than having to pack your own lunch at home, and millennials are always opting for the easier option (right?).

Dating back to when our parents were still teens, it’s quit clear that accessible food options (such as fast food delivery) did not exist. One thing for certain is millennials are a completely different breed – they don’t know the hardships of not having access to convenient foods such as drive-thru’s or food deliveries around the clock.

Takeaways

It’s believed the Romans were the first to invent take-away parcels back in 1889 – according to The skinny . We could thank the Romans for taking the initiative to bring this invention into action, now takeaways are widely available and a convenient way for everyone to curb their hunger pangs.

We asked 5 Capetonian millennials about their lunch choices and this is what they had to say…

Phumela, 22
“Because I’m constantly busy I do not have time to make proper meals everyday. I’ll grab fruit in the morning and eat in on the go and that’ll be my breakfast.  For lunch I normally go to the nearest fast foods shop to get anything that’ll fill me regardless of how unhealthy it is. My choices normally include burgers, a small pizza, fries or a sandwich on some days.”

Remano, 28
“I’d opt for something that is both appealing to the eye and gentle on the stomach. An option is a wrap from a reputable shop, as long as there is ham and cheese on. Simply because it is healthy – provided you’re not allergic to anything – light and filling.”

Shanthi, 25
“My favourite food for lunch is a bit difficult to decide on I love pizza and also enjoy wraps and burgers. I’m a very unhealthy person which I know is kind of bad, but I am ultimate foodie. I prefer everything I eat to be either spicy or full of sauce.”

Chantè, 22
“I usually eat a sandwich, wrap or leftovers (from the previous night). I love pasta I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of eating it but I also try to eat everything in moderation. As a millennium I think I’m more health conscious and aware of the nutritional value (or lack thereof) the food has that I consume. I love salads and fruits, not necessarily because it’s healthy but more because I really enjoy eating it.”

Ra-ees, 23
“I am not the traditional, three-meals-per-day guy so ‘lunch’ is not a ‘thing’ for me. I snack continuously throughout the day on what we know as ‘healthy munchies’ such as, dried fruits, nuts and energy bars. If I had not been snacking throughout the day, for lunch I’d probably prefer having a home cooked meal such as, Biryani or Cottage Pie… yummy”
