In honour of International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March, Häagen-Dazs is set to make a global statement by offering a free scoop of its beloved “Founder’s Favourite” vanilla ice cream.

The free scoops will be available to the first 500 people at the Sandton City Häagen-Dazs Shop in Johannesburg, exclusively between 3 and 5pm.

This initiative is part of the Rose Project, a global endeavour by Häagen-Dazs, which looks to celebrate extraordinary, yet often overlooked, trailblazing women who embody the ethos of “Don’t Hold Back”.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Häagen-Dazs reveals the five extraordinary winners of the Rose Project, Class of 2023, who have each received an equal share of a US$100 000 bursary grant to fund their mission and work.

Among the winners is Sarah Kandolo from South Africa, co-founder of the transformative #TalkAboutHer project. Sarah’s vision draws inspiration from the illustrious lineage of authentic African female leaders, as she endeavours to foster and celebrate leadership roles among African women.

Through #TalkAboutHer, Sarah has emboldened youth within their communities, capturing the often-overlooked narratives of female leaders across African nations. Her ambitious plans extend to amplifying the indispensable contributions of African women to the sustained prosperity of their communities.

Joining Sarah are her fellow bursary awardees: Jennifer Seifert and Karol Ivanna Aceves Flores from Mexico, Yarett Piñeiro from Puerto Rico, and Eunice Maia from Portugal.

As the Rose Project embarks on its second year, the search for the Class of 2024 commences. Nominations are now open until 31 July 2024. Whether self-nominating or spotlighting another unsung heroine, you can submit your nomination for the Rose Project here.

Join Häagen-Dazs in a global celebration of women’s achievements at its Sandton store this International Women’s Day and enjoy free ice cream, while stocks last!
