A small, smooth round fruit wrapped in its own papery case that resembles a Chinese lantern. It’s also known as physalis.
Use: Cape gooseberries can be unwrapped and eaten as is or dipped in chocolate, this makes a perfect after dinner dessert with coffee. They make excellent jams, jellies, purees and desserts.
