If my nose
was anything to go by, the entire country lit the coals on Monday (or wood, but
never of course gas! Have you seen the Food Bitch’s latest stir?) and had an
amazing time.
A huge
number of crazy individuals parked off in our beloved Editor’s garden for the
day to pit their braaiing skills against each other in the die-hard Braai-hard
competition of the year. As you can see, they had a lot of fun, so let us know how you got on!
Thank
heavens the weather played along – I
am so over winter and so keen to start chilling in the garden with a nice glass
of wine in the sun. We’ve got amazing summer
and braai recipes for you to start some serious entertaining.
And to go
with them all, my list of the 10 Best Value Braai Wines includes a host of
different options and all of them inexpensive enough to justify buying 2
bottles instead of just the one.

Beach body wines!
I suppose
with summer coming up, we ought to be thinking about our beach bodies, having
hidden them under woolly jumpers all winter. We’ve got a whole section dedicated to delicious healthy recipes so you don’t have to compromise on taste.
I fear it
may be a bit too late for me, but over the next week I’m going to be looking at
low alcohol wines to see if they can actually help you enjoy alcohol and not
pile on the pounds. Anyone got any favourites out there that I should try? Let

And of
course, the return of summer means the return of my obsession with sabraging
bottles of fizz. I managed (FINALLY!) to get the hang of it last year, but now
that my husband has moved onto doing it with a teaspoon, I’ve clearly still got
some way to go.
The top
fizzes in the country were announced last week at the Amorim Cap Classique
Challenge so I shall be working my way through them in the coming weeks and
hopefully wielding my teaspoon with aplomb!
