Beautiful, sexy Cape Town

It’s turning out to be a beautiful March here in Cape Town, and I’m not referring to anything COSATU are doing. The weather has just been sublime.

I’m a bit miffed because I got a very cool leather jacket for my birthday last week and despite desperate attempts to wear it the days and evenings just keep getting better.

Great news for Argus riders though. Even wind guru is showing a paltry 5 knots for Sunday. We’ll take it thanks, after the black South Easter of 2009.

Enough about the weather – let’s get down to preparing to ride 109 kms around the peninsula. Wind or no wind, your body needs to be souped-up for such endurance. Professor Tim Noakes says no to carbs and is advocating a high-protein diet, but whether he is referring to pre-Argus preparation, I’m not sure… what’s your energy solution?

Welcome to Cape Town!

So whether you’re into carbo-loading or the Dukan Diet… we’ve rounded up some new restaurants that have opened up in The Mother City in time for the annual lycra invasion. So if your old favourite is booked up or you fancy a change, why not give the new guys a go?

Here are our top new recommendations…

In Kloof Street there is the new Mitico and also an old favourite Bardelli’s has opened up in this trendy part of town. At The Biscuit Mill there is the new Buratta – with a very cool pizza oven and hot chefs.

And… the old La Med has literally been transformed into a restaurant that has brought sexy back to Clifton. The Bungalow is a beautiful restaurant and it’s got to be one of the Top 10 restaurant locations in the world! And they really have made the most of it.

They have pastas on the menu (check out the menu on the listing) – plus plenty of protein options. If you have visitors staying with you. Take them there for stunning food and a breathtaking view.

So whether you are riding or not, let’s celebrate our beautiful city and show it off to visitors this weekend. The weather is doing its bit.
