Baked beans student loans

Branston (part of Premier Foods brand) is introducing a baked beans loan scheme. Students will receive free cans and pay for them once they start work.

Cases of 24 tins will be delivered by Branston to participating students, every term for the next three years. They will defer the interest-free payment of £106, at today’s prices, until the students start work.

New research from Branston shows that students in 2007 consumed 20 per cent less baked beans than those who graduated five years ago.

Rob Stacey, Branston Beans marketing manager told metro.uk.co: “Students have more choice these days and are becoming increasingly adventurous in their food tastes, so it’s not surprising that consumption of beans has dipped.”

Stacey believes that bake beans are the perfect student grub. “It’s nutritious, versatile and cheap. It would be a crying shame if beans were knocked off their perch as the student’s favourite grub.”
