All day breakfast spots in Cape Town

It’s a very disheartening feeling when you sit down somewhere for breakfast only to realise you’ve missed the 11:30 cut off time and you will not be served eggs and bacon, but rather have to opt for some gourmet sandwich, or worse a pasta of sorts. But you weren’t even near ready for lunch. We all need breakfast, no matter what time we rise.

Here is a list of 10 all-day breakfast spots in Cape Town, because most of the time, weekends are there for sleeping in.

Hemelhuijs

The Savour menu section is basically an all day breakfast section. They do poached eggs, scrambled eggs and French toast and they serve the most fluffy, flavourful homemade mosbolletjie bread. It’s called Savour for a reason because flavours are carefully thought out, making for a delectable breakfast experience. See their menu here.

Clarke’s

I really don’t need to elaborate on this one, but still the ultimate all day breakfast to cure any hangover is of course Clarkes. This is a reliable choice with classic breakfast items and proper coffee that keep people flocking over and over again. Also they are open seven days a week. See their menu here

Four and Twenty

All day scrumptious breakfast with a country style French flair. They do brilliant breakfasts that are more innovative than your usual bacon and eggs like their offering of green eggs and ham. See their menu here.

Loading Bay

They don’t do all day breakfast, however they do do an almost all day brunch on Sundays up until 2pm. This is a worthwhile place to visit for brunch with fresh produce and lovely pressed juices. Try the Avocado on toast with lime and coriander and add a poached egg, or try the ultimate pancakes. See the Sunday menu here.

Knead

We are all familiar with their freshly baked breads but they also do all-day breakfast and are located on Kloof Street, in Sea Point, Wembley Square and Muizenberg.

Café Mozart

Of the Madame Zingara fame, this little haunt on Church Street serves traditional breakfasts in a French, eclectic setting. Try the Little Mozart to get your bacon and egg fix. See their menu here.

Superette

During the week breakfast is served all day alongside lunch and on Saturdays they have a brunch menu which is a reduced version of the breakfast menu. The poached eggs are always done exactly as ordered, bacon is crispy and breakfast are served with fresh greens of zucchini and rocket. See the menu here.

Kleinsky‘s

Their breakfast and brunch menu is served until 3pm. The Latke Benedict beats most breakfasts you’d have around the city. Both the salmon and pastrami options are great and also offer generous servings. Kleinsky’s is also known for their bagels, so try one with a filling of your choice. See their menu here.

Lazari

An old favourite in Vredehoek; their breakfasts are consistent and straight forward. A personal favourite is the vegetarian poached eggs breakfast served with avo and halloumi. They are also known for their cakes and sweet treats so try the brownie or millionaire shortbread for dessert.

Jarryd’s Espresso Bar and Eatery

The newest one on this list is Jarryds situated in Sea Point. A spacious warehouse style room with a high glass ceiling is where Jarryds serves their all day breakfast. They are known for their Eggs Benedict which also comes as a vegetarian option, and there are multiple bread options including gluten-free. See their menu here
