6 Restaurants from the movies that really exist

(Image: Central Perk SG Facebook)

Food, and particularly restaurants, play a huge role in movies and television series. Countless scenes are shot in various restaurants and I don’t know about you, but I often find myself wondering what it would be like to visit the actual places. Today this is possible and there a quite a few restaurants that were inspired by movies or TV series and some are even the actual restaurants where scenes were shot!

Check out this list of real life restaurants from the movies.

T
he Krusty Burger on The Simpsons

Fans of The Simpsons show will recognise Krusty the Clown, who founded The Krusty Burger.  In the show this fast food burger chain is known for its incompetent staff and unhealthy, distasteful food. The Krusty Burger comes alive at The Universal Orlando Resort theme park in Florida. Fans can enjoy favourites from the show like The Clogger, Deep Fried Krusty Burger, Mother Nature Burger and more. Rest assured – the real life restaurant is nothing as bad as the on screen one in Springfield!

Tony’s Town Square Restaurant from Lady and the Tramp

Who could ever forget the famously romantic spaghetti and meatballs scene from Lady and The Tramp? Tony’s town Square Restaurant at Walt Disney World Resort sports French doors and an expansive porch (like the one where Lady and Tramp have their first kiss!). Even though you won’t see the pooches waltzing around, their portraits grace the walls and a central fountain features a statue of the couple!

Bistrot Chez Rémy in Ratatouille

At Bistrot Chez Rémy, the story of Ratatouille almost literally comes to life (minus the rats of cause!) The real life restaurant in Disneyland Paris was made so that diners feel as if they are the size of rats. Gigantic plates act as room dividers, the chairs are made to look like bottle caps and umbrellas over some of the tables will remind you of those found in a tropical cocktail.

Central Perk in F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Have you ever wanted to sit on the famous orange coach while hanging out with a group of six of your closest F.R.I.E.N.D.S? Well, if you ever find yourself in Singapore you can! On its website this real life Central Perk is described as, “a modern day tribute that seeks to bring and carry the legacy of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV series”.

MacLarens in How I Met Your Mother

The iconic pub where all the best stories in How I Met Your Mother gets told is actually a real place. MacLarens, in the hit TV series, was inspired by a real restaurant and pub called McGees in New York City. The real life version features the red booths, you can order How I Met Your Mother-inspired  food, drinks and you can watch the series there on Monday evenings.

It’s going to be legen… (Wait for it..) …dary! #McGeesPubNYC #McLarensPub #HIMYM #NewYork #Honeymoon

Café Grumpy in Girls

If you ever find yourself in New York City you can go have coffee at Café Grumpy – the actual coffee shop featured in American television series, Girls. The original and first cafe in Brooklyn, New York has been in existence since 2005 and one day a location scout showed up and asked if they could rent the space to film scenes for Girls. A production studio is also just next door to the café so you’ll see it featured in the likes of Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary, The Good Wife and Lipstick Jungle too.
