3 Tons of food flown in: Team Argentina doesn’t plan on leaving Russia anytime soon!

We all know soccer players can’t play a good game on an empty stomach and have a very specific diet which needs to be followed. According to Men’s Journal magazine, soccer players burn huge amounts of energy on the field and in order to deliver, they need stamina, strength and endurance.

When travelling between different countries, teams are bound to feel homesick and want some of their own traditional meals and that’s why most international teams travel with a team of chefs who provide all their nutritional and dietary needs. One team that has been making headlines is the Argentinian team.

According to a quote given to Sports Illustrated by Argentina’s ambassador to Russia, Ricardo Lagorio “The national team brought with it all the traditional food for Argentina: beef, pork, dulce de leche, mate, etc. There are about three tons of products in Bronnitsy from Argentina.”

With three tons of food and three chefs to take care of the team’s culinary requirements, we are expecting nothing but great matches from them.

The chefs who will be cooking for the team were sent to Russia ahead of the team, in order to set up and prepare for the team’s arrival. The team will enjoy their favourite meals including the traditional South American mate tea which is a caffeine-rich infused herbal tea enjoyed by the South American community.

Three tons of food is a whole lot, we think it’s safe to say the Argentinian team plans on staying in Russia for quite some time. They have set their eyes on the prize (or rather the cup!) and are making sure that they are well taken care of.

Argentina will play against Iceland on Saturday, what are your predictions for the Argentinian team? Let us know in the comments below!
