Heritage Day (affectionately also known as Braai Day), is right around the corner and it’s time to make those calls to friends, family and everyone down the road! It’s time for a cookout, some boerewors and a beverage on the side. Braai Day is important to South African culture and tradition, so what better way to show than sharing some of our best braai recipes?
Light up the fire and get those paper plates out, it’s going to be a fiery weekend!
This pork chop carbonara is perfect for those who don’t like regular boerewors roll. I know many pasta fans might jump at the sight of this meal because it is simply delicious.
Smoky butter chicken kebabs are definitely good for braai days. The easy finger meal is an easy addition to one’s plate, and will have you running back for more!
Speaking of kebabs, have you tried these calamari kebabs? I’m more of the traditional beef braai kind of girl, but you can’t go wrong with a seafood braai.
Of course, meat eaters will say it isn’t a braai day without the classic boerewors. But how about trying some boerewors roll with a twist? boerewors wrapped in ready-made bread dough.
Some peri peri chicken sounds good for the soul too, doesn’t it?
Banters, these bunless boeries are for you! Served with a fresh and zesty salsa.
For those who are after something a bit more filling, this steak and mushroom braai pie is for you. You might take one larger piece than usual but I can assure you that you will not regret.
Lastly, what says Heritage AND Braai day like this sausage filled mielie roosterkoek? With two very traditional foods, nothing says PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN like this meal.
