SA born chef and the owner of a 1 Michelin-star restaurant in the South of France, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, is having what many would call a foodie’s dream trip. He is currently in Japan on ‘foodeymoon’ with this new husband, Grant Bacon and if the images on Instagram are anything to go by, it looks like they are having the best time ever!
We marveled at the incredible food that he’s experiencing – like fresh wasabi root and the fascinating Baumkuchen cake (see the video below!) as it all just looks so exotic and different. Check out some of his posts!
LAYERS OF CAKE BAKED ONTO A SPOOL – BAUMKUCHEN CAKE | a very popular omiyage, or gift, in Japan. It can be found at all big food markets. This German cake is made of thin layers of cake that are baked onto a spool! At first sight the cake is a delight on the eyes as the layers are so delicate. #kyoto #japan???? #foodeymoon
PS – Jan Hendrik often posts Live Instagram stories so look out for those! They are fantastic!
