Vegan sweet treat alert!

Ingredients (4)

200 g castor sugar
5 tbsp golden syrup — or maple syrup
2 tsp Robertson's bicarbonate of soda
100 g dark chocolate

Line a 20cm baking dish with baking paper. Melt the castor sugar in the golden syrup over a high heat. Once the sugar has melted into the syrup, keep the mixture over a high heat until it is amber-coloured and reaches a caramel consistency.

Turn the heat off. Add the bicarbonate of soda and mix well. Once the mixture starts to foam, scrape it into the baking dish immediately. The mixture will bubble away in the dish but will set in about 1 hour.

Break into chunks and coat in melted dark chocolate.
