Sticky star anise beef short ribs
|2 kg||beef — short ribs|
|6||cinnamon — stick|
|6||star anise — whole|
|5 cm||fresh ginger — peeled, sliced|
|1/4 cup||brown sugar|
|3/4 cup||oyster sauce|
|3/4 cup||vinegar — rice wine|
|lemon — juice only|
|rice — and fresh coriander, to serve|
|2 cloves||garlic — cloves, crushed|
Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Place the beef, cinnamon, star anise, ginger, garlic, sugar, oyster sauce, vinegar and water in a baking dish and cover tightly with aluminum foil.
Roast for 2 hours.
Remove foil and roast for a further 30 minutes or until tender and sticky.
Squeeze the lemon juice over and serve with steamed rice and fresh coriander or choose a side dish below.
