French toast waffles with bacon, whipped cream and syrup

Ingredients (13)

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt
1 egg
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter — melted
1 tsp vanilla essence — plus extra to whip with the cream
streaky bacon — to serve
whipping cream — to serve
icing sugar
strawberries — to serve

Whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, sugar, milk, butter and vanilla essence.

Blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.

Lightly coat a waffle iron with cooking spray.

Ladle batter into the iron and cook for 5–7 minutes.

Fry the bacon until nice and crispy.

Whip the cream with a bit of vanilla essence and icing sugar until soft peaks form.

To assemble, place one waffle on a plate, add a dollop of whipped cream and a couple of pieces of bacon. Add another waffle, cream and bacon, and then top with some strawberries.
