A sweet rose syrup flavoured milk tart inspired by a traditional fragrant falooda.

Ingredients (13)

For the base
125 ml sugar
125 g butter
1 egg
500 ml flour
10 ml baking powder
pinch salt
For the filling
1/2 tin condensed milk
4 1/2 cup milk
15 ml butter
80 ml corn flour
5 ml vanilla essence
rose syrup — to taste
15 ml sabja seeds — soaked in water to plump up

Method:

Cream the sugar and butter well. Add egg and beat before adding flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour a little at a time to form soft dough (may not need all).

Press into prepared tray. Bake for 15 minutes at 200ºC then allow to cool.

Combine the condensed milk, milk and butter in a pot and heat up.

Beat the eggs, corn flour and vanilla together in a jug. Stir into the milk mixture using a whisk. Add in rose syrup to taste and continue mixing until thickened.

Add sabja seeds (drained) and mix through.

Pour over the base. Refrigerate until set and decorate as needed.
