Ingredients (5)

Method:

Blitz all the ingredients together in a Nutribullet and enjoy on a slice of toast with lots of butter!

Alternatives

  • Leave out the tomato paste if it’s not your thing, but it does add a nice boost of tang and umami
  • Add a dash of cayenne pepper
  • Save time and mix in your butter with the fish paste beforehand so you only need to add one spread on your toast before you can start eating

    Great idea! many thanks!
    What on earth is umami??

    • Matt Brummer says:

Umami is one of the five basic tastes, along with sweet, sour, salty and bitter taste sensations. It’s most commonly defined as “savoury”, but the characteristics of umami can also be described as “meaty”, “complex” or even just “deliciousness”. A Japanese word, umami is pronounced: “oo-ma-mee”.
