Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF).
Mix all the filling ingredients in a saucepan. Stir gently, ensuring the apple slices don’t break. Heat until the sugar has melted. Cool and spoon into a prepared pie dish.
Grate the remaining pastry on top of the filling and bake for 35 minutes or until done.
Serve hot or cold with cream or custard.
Makes a medium-sized tart.
