Makers Landing to launch summer food programme for kids this festive season

Makers Landing encourages kids to play, learn, eat and explore food through their unique and interactive educational summer food camp.

Makers Landing is launching an interactional food education programme for enquiring young minds, empowering all the future food innovators, activists and entrepreneurs today!

The Mini Makers Summer Food Programme is available for kids 5 – 12 years old. The summer camp edition kicks off on Thursday, 15 December 2022, and runs until Sunday, 8 January 2023.

Join daily for 2 hours of interactive workshops, active food play, food theory and more! There are two daily slots: 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm. The classes cost R225 per day. To avoid disappointment, be sure to book before spaces run out.

Thurs 15 December – Kitchen basics: Get to know kitchen equipment and how it works / Making: Spaghetti and tomato sauce

Fri 16 December – Flavours of the world / Making boerie rolls

Sat 17 December – The rainbow of foods: Green / Making broccoli cheese cups

Sun 18 December – Baking: Making a cake for the holidays

Mon 19 December – Making a gingerbread house from scratch

Tue 20 December – The difference between fruits and veg / Making smoothies

Wed 21 December – SOLD OUT

Thurs 22 December – Kitchen basics: Get to know spices / Make spicy festive biscuits

Fri 23 December – Making edible festive gifts and take-home gifts

Thurs 5 January – Kitchen basics: Knife skills / Making chakalaka

Fri 6 January – Kitchen basics: Get to know herbs / Make green super pancakes

Sat 7 January – The science of baking / Making focaccia bread

Sun 8 January – Making: Step-by-step apple crumble

Makers Landing will also be open daily from 15-24 December for the Makers Market Festive Edition. They’ll be offering parents and guardians alike the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and family with some much-needed artisanal festive shopping or over refreshments, moreish food, good music and picturesque harbour views.
