South Africans love All Gold Tomato sauce, but there are a number of us that have a particular preference for Heinz Tomato Ketchup, making it an ongoing debate about which one is the best. Sadly, this debate will soon come to an end as Heinz Tomato Ketchup will no longer be available in South Africa.
Mandy Murphy, Managing Executive Foods for PepsiCo SA, told Food24 that Pioneer Foods had been procuring, distributing and selling Heinz Ketchup in South Africa under licence from Kraft Heinz, the fifth-largest food and beverage company in the world. The licence for South African distribution expired at the end of May 2020 and has not been renewed.
As devastating as this might be for lovers of Heinz Tomato Ketchup, there are still some bottles on supermarket shelves, so stock up while you still can!

Local “All Gold, Wellingtons and Mrs Balls” are much better anyway!!
S maybe tell us why the license hasn’t been renewed?
What about McDonalds, they use Heinz
They will probably continue to import in bulk
well that’s not great. this is not the sticks man – surely a plan can be made?
Woolworths Ketchup tastes better anyway.
Far and away best ketchup on the market. I will miss it.
Heinz Ketchup is by far the best ketchup! This is horrible news. I am very sad indeed!
it sucks – local is better try Mrs Balls
There are better sauces these days and I am sure that’s why it has been discontinued
I much prefer it to any other tomato sauce. Am lost without it. Can’t even stock up on it as no stores have stock. 🙁
I prefer Al Gold anyway – too much plastic colouring in kotch up
Heinz tomato sauce is filled with additives, stabilisers, flavour enhancers, anti-foaming agents, colourants, anti oxidants and chemicals that start with vowels and end with numbers. Probably the most horrible ketchup on the market.
