Hold onto your mirror socks people, the World Cup is almost here!

I’m sure you’re as excited as we are and my mail is a-buzz with energized banter about who is watching which game where.

Not being the most avid soccer fan myself, this conjures up a sort of foodie World Cup in my head and when I hear the countries being named, I start to picture all the wonderful food and what I would cook.

It’s a sort of war of cuisines and I can almost taste the caipirinhas from Brazil and smell the zinging prego rolls from Portugal.

There’s the unbelievably diverse and fresh food from Japan and the homely meat and potatoes from Chile. Delicious Italy and gorgeous Greece… there’s 32 countries coming to our shiny shores and boy have we got some super ideas for you.

We’ve put together some menus for you to get together with friends and family and have your very own World Cup.

You can fling it all about and blow your vuvu to your heart’s content right in your own homes.

You can create an intensely cool occasion and what better to get into the vibe of it all than to eat the support of the country you’re rooting for never mind shout and run around like a mad thing?

If you’re cheering for our boys next Friday take a look at our SA menu, it’s filled with yummy stuff to get you in the mood, and if you’re feeling more like a bit of Mexican, try this sombrero-sized munch-fest on for size.

You can go froggily French and try out this salivatingly sumptuous lunch menu or hotdawg it with our junkily delicious American one.

Go Dutch with our food from the Netherlands and a touch of Svizz from Switzerland and keep it earthy and African with our menu from Cameroon.

Whoever you are rooting for there’s a full tummy and a smile for you here on Food24 so grab your remotes and your wooden spoons, there’s World Cup fun to be had!

Check out all the fabulous winter specials at the restaurants if you’re not planning to stay home and cook it up.
