Ferran Adrià’s new restaurant
One of the world’s top chefs Ferran Adrià has opened up a new “tapas” style bar, Tickets, in downtown Barcelona.
The Spanish chef shot to fame with his celebrated Catalanian restaurant El Bulli which was voted the planet’s top restaurant for 4 years running in the S. Pellegrino
World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.
Last year Adrià announced that he would close El Bulli permanently to the dismay of many fans of his molecular gastronomy method of cooking, and many more diners just seeking a glimpse of what this mythical chef had to offer. The year long waiting list for a table at El Bulli would become a thing of the past.
A year later Adrià has opened the restaurant, a contemporary tapas bar that seats around 50 covers with his brother Albert Adrià. Within the restaurant is a cocktail bar serving cold beers called 41°. The restaurant will apparently be taking reservations from far and wide.
Says Adrià about his new venture “”a place for dreams and surprising looks,” and also a beer bar – a
“perfect place where we will serve a delicious golden star as bright in
color as sunbathed wheat and as cold as a spring iceberg.”
Sounds like Barcelona is about to be killed in the rush of Adrià’s millions of fans.
