What you put into your body determines the mood for the rest of your day, even your week. For all of the times you rush to get your coffee and/or that sugary muffin, you need to take a step back and think about what you’re actually allowing into your body. Breakfast – Oatmeal and banana pancakes
Start your day off the right way! Bananas contain serotonin, which naturally helps one to overcome depression or a bad mood and also help to eliminate sweet cravings.
Lunch – Salmon
By this time you’re probably feeling down. Hunger does that when you haven’t eaten since breakfast. Here’s some lunch that can change your mood. Salmon contains Vitamin B12 and is great at easing anxiety, stress and PMS.
Snack – Fruit salad
Between your important meals you could be hungry for something light and what’s better than a light snack. Fruit like kiwis contain serotonin and also improve your sleep quality and duration. Oranges provide Vitamin C which is widely known for boosting your immune system. Low-fat Greek yoghurt contains protein which increases the release of dopamine and norepinephrine that could improve your mood for a while.
Dinner – Bangers and sweet potato mash
It’s almost the end of your day and you might be tired. But tired doesn’t have to mean unhappy! Potatoes contain chromium, a chemical that helps raise your brain’s serotonin levels.
Dessert – Low GI chocolate brownies
And to end off the day, why not end it with a chocolate high? It shouldn’t come as a shock that chocolate makes one happier. Also with serotonin, it helps ease one’s mind.
