A classic
BLT is simply crispy bacon, crunchy iceberg lettuce, slices of ripe tomatoes
and good quality creamy mayo on toasted white bread.

Bacon: Streaky bacon is an absolute must.
To get it nice and crispy, pop under the grill turning once.

Lettuce: Iceberg is the way to go; it’s
juicy, uber crunchy and has a pleasant sweetish taste.

Tomato: As long as they are ripe and firm,
you are good to go.

Mayo:
It’s a personal thing, I think creamy mayo is best (think Hellman’s,
Kraft etc.). Try flavouring your mayo with some Dijon mustard, smoked paprika
or crushed garlic. It’ll change your life! And then for something really special, try
making your own mayo.

Bread:
Honestly, I’ve tried this combo on just about every type of bread.
White, brown, rye, ciabatta, baguette, it’s all good.

Now that we’ve
covered that (clearly, I’m really passionate about this sandwich), here are 3
awesome twists
:

BBLT: Ooh, this is lush! Crispy bacon,
brie, wild rocket and tomato-chilli jam (or try tomato-chilli chutney)
all on a freshly baked baguette. You’re
drooling aren’t you? Just look at the pictures in this beautiful gallery.

BLT
Bruschetta
:
Slices
of grilled ciabatta spread generously with smoked paprika mayo, topped with
crispy bacon, roasted baby tomatoes and micro rocket and basil. Drizzle with Parmesan infused olive oil. Heaven in a bite. This is also in the gorgeous gallery.

BLT
salad
: A “healthier”
option to help you sleep better at night. Try this awesome recipe.

Which BLT option would you order for lunch? Gosh, I want them all. May the bacon be with you!

I’d love to know what your favourite mayo is? Miracle whip, Hellman’s, Cross and Blackwell tangy, Nola, anything creamy?
