ANNOUNCED: South Africa’s top 20 restaurants for 2019

Cape Town – At a resplendent and glitzy event held at GrandWest, celebrity chefs, restaurateurs, guests and media gathered for the annual Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards, a highlight on the South African restaurant industry calendar. 

The Awards ceremony represents a year of top-secret visits to restaurants, where anonymous judges evaluate the very best restaurants in South Africa on the quality of their food, the selection of wine on offer and the professionalism of their servers. Guests enjoyed a multi-course lunch prepared by some of South Africa’s most respected chefs and were entertained by the dynamic and spirited Indlovu Youth Choir.

30 restaurants were nominated for awards in October, and from this list only 20 have been named and awarded as winners. Here are the top 10 restaurants in the country:
