Ingredients (6)

2 cup flour — bread
1 1/2 tsp brown sugar
2 cup flour — wholewheat
1 tsp salt
1 Buttermilk
1 heaped tsp Bicarbonate of soda

Method:

Mix together all dry ingredients, then pour in the buttermilk and knead until it forms a light dough.
Place it onto a greased baking tray and shape into a rough oval. Cross the oval to form indentations, then bake at 180°C for 1 hour.
Allow to cool on a rack, then slice into thick wedges and serve slathered with butter.
