Valentine toffee brownies

    cocoa powder
  • 2

    castor sugar
  • 150
    self-raising flour
  • 60
    caramel sweets
  • icing sugar


30 minutes
Melt butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in cocoa.
Beat eggs until light, add sugar and beat well. Stir in the chocolate mixture. Sift flour over the top of this mixture and fold in with the caramels.
Pour into a greased and lined 20cm-square tin. Bake at 180 °C in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until cooked through, but still moist.
Cool and cut into squares. Cut a heart shape out of cardboard. Place heart shape on a brownie square and dust it with the icing sugar.
Remove cardboard to show hearts. Repeat with remaining brownies. Serve brownies on their own or with cream or ice cream for dessert.
