Ingredients (7)

500.00 g dates
650.00 g onion — chopped
1.00 kg tomatoes — chopped
10.00 fresh chillies
350.00 ml vinegar — grape
10.00 ml curry powder
900.00 g jam — smooth, apricot

Method:

Cut the dates into little pieces.
Mince the onion, tomatoes and chillies together in a food processor.
Pour the mixture into a heavy-based pot.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.
Cook over a moderate temperature without a lid until the chutney has the right consistency.
Test by allowing a small amount of the chutney to cool in a saucer in the refrigerator.
Cool the chutney and pour into sterilised jars and seal.
Makes about 2,5 litres of chutney.
