Sweet and sour stir-fried pork

    onion, sliced
  • 2
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1
    small knob ginger, chopped
  • 1
    red sweet pepper, seeded and sliced into strips

    pork strips
  • 150
    slender young green beans, toped and tailed
  • 1
    pineapple, peeled and cubed
  • 125
    bought or homemade sweet and sour sauce
  • 1
    lemon, juice
  • milled pepper to taste
  • toasted sesame seeds (optional)


Heat oil until almost smoking in a large wok or frying pan. Add onion, garlic and ginger and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Add pepper strips and toss to coat. Add pork and stir-fry for 1 to 2 minutes. If the meat begins to stick, add a little chicken stock. Add beans, stir-fry for 2 minutes then add pineapple, sweet and sour sauce and lemon juice and cook for about 4 minutes. Season to taste, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately, with rice or Chinese noodles.
