Spider biscuits

  • 20
    Marie biscuits
  • basic icing (see method)
  • red and black food colouring


Make icing by beating 125 g soft butter or margarine until light.
Add 225 g sifted icing sugar, 7 ml hot water and 2 ml vanilla essence. Beat until light and creamy (add a little more hot water if the icing is too thick).
Divide icing into three bowls. Leave one white and colour the others red nd black.
Spread red icing onto 10 of the biscuits and white icing onto the remaining 10.
Put black icing into a piping bag and pipe spider shapes onto the red and white icing.
