Ingredients (14)

45.00 ml milk
0.50 bread — sliced, crusts removed
250.00 g beef mince
1.00 onion — small, chopped
2.00 ml fresh parsley — finely chopped
1.00 eggs — lightly beaten
60.00 ml parmesan cheese — grated
1.00 garlic — cloves, finely chopped
2.00 red chilli — finely chopped
0.00 sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
65.00 ml oil
410.00 g whole tomatoes — tinned, peeled
45.00 ml fresh basil — chopped
200.00 g pasta — spaghetti

Method:

Put the milk and bread in a small saucepan and place over low heat.
When the bread has absorbed the milk, remove from heat and mash with a fork to cool.
Combine mince, onion, parsley, egg, Parmesan cheese, garlic, half the chilli, bread mixture and plenty of salt and black pepper in a large bowl.
Gently mix with your hands, then shape into small balls.
Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and add meatballs.
Brown meatballs on all sides, turning carefully. Drain off any excess oil.
Add tomatoes, remaining chilli, basil, salt and pepper.Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, add spaghetti and cook, according to instructions, until al dente.
To serve, spoon spaghetti into a bowl and top with the meatballs and sauce.
