Smoked ham, Cheddar cheese and bitter marmalade on wholewheat

    slices wholewheat bread, toasted
  • 30
  • 20
    wholegrain mustard (use more or less, as desired)
  • 12
    thin slices smoked ham
  • 40
    bitter marmalade
  • 16
    thin, rectangular slices mature Cheddar cheese (3-4 slices on each toast)
  • 8
    sprigs watercress
  • a few drops olive oil


Spread wholewheat toast evenly with butter and then with wholegrain mustard. Cover mustard with rolled-up sliced ham, spread fairly thickly with marmalade and top with slices of cheese. Arrange watercress on top. Sprinkle a little olive oil over and serve. Serves 2-4
