Skewered bread toast

  • 8
    wooden skewers
  • 24
    slices French loaf
  • 12
    slices ham, halved
  • 24
    slices or cubes of cucumber
  • 3
    red peppers, seeded, halved and then quartered


Soak skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
Thread a piece of bread onto each skewer, followed by a folded half slice of ham, then a piece of cucumber, ending with a piece of red pepper.
Repeat twice more for each skewer.
Place under a hot grill until all sides are toasted.
Serve with a green salad if desired.
