Ingredients (7)

500.00 g bread — instant wholewheat bread mix
1.00 apples — Granny Smith, peeled, cored and cubed
50.00 ml pecan nuts — chopped
125.00 ml mature cheddar cheese — grated
1.00 onion — small, chopped
500.00 ml Buttermilk
1.00 eggs — large

Method:

1 Place the bread mix in a large bowl. Mix in the apple, nuts, cheese and onion.
2 Whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Add to the dry ingredients and mix for about 5 minutes until ingredients are well combined.
3 Spoon into a greased and lined loaf tin and decorate the top with extra pecan nuts if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ºC for 1 hour, or until cooked through. Turn on to a wire rack to cool. Serve sliced to accompany saucy stews or bredies.
