Sandwich supper dish

    slices of day-old bread, buttered

    tin asparagus salad cuts, drained and liquid reserved
  • 125
    sliced ham
  • 425

    extra-large eggs, beaten
  • 5
    mustard powder
  • 250
    grated Cheddar


30 minutes
Remove the crusts from the bread and arrange half the slices in a greased, rectangular ovenproof dish.
Cover with the asparagus and ham, and then the remaining bread.
Pour the milk into a measuring cup and make up to 500 ml with asparagus liquid.
Beat the eggs and seasoning to taste into the liquid.
Pour into the dish, ensuring all the bread has been moistened.
Sprinkle on the cheese and bake in a preheated 180 °C oven for 30 minutes or until golden.
