Ingredients (8)

500.00 g dates — pitted and finely chopped
500.00 g apples — green, peeled, cored and cubed
450.00 g onion — finely chopped
600.00 g sugar
450.00 g sultanas
5.00 ml salt
600.00 ml vinegar — white garpe
25.00 g pickling spice — tied in muslin cloth

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in large mixing bowl. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Leave for at least 24 hours before use. Remove the muslin cloth and spoon the mixture into sterilised jars.
Makes 2 litres of chutney.
