Prunes with cinnamon and red wine

  • 30
    pitted prunes
  • 400
    red wine
  • 100
    orange juice
  • 3
    cinnamon sticks
  • 1
    orange, thinly pared peel
  • 15
    brown sugar


Place all ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan. Bring to boil over moderate heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until liquid has become a syrupy, reduced sauce. Remove cinnamon sticks and orange peel. Serve warm or cold with custard or yoghurt.
